Doug Murphy and Dr. Kevin Klein established the Cleveland County County Parkinson’s Disease Fund.
The combined efforts of Doug Murphy and Dr. Kevin Klein has resulted in the establishment of the Cleveland County Parkinson’s Disease Fund. The new organization is presenting a benefit concert at the Don Gibson Theatre on Saturday, June 8th. Showtime is 7 p.m. and will feature Keith Henderson and the Illusions Band
Friends and family members of the Smith Family gathered at Shelby City Park’s Civitan Shelter, for a picnic on Memorial Day. Enjoying the special occasion, pictured above up front, kneeling is Gage.
The Shelby Lions Club will be distributing USDA Commodities on June 5th 2013 at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds between 8:00am and 1:00pm.

Mrs. Kathryn Miller Leonhardt, 75, of 260 Hwy 274 North, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Crawley Memorial Hospital in Boiling Springs.
Mr. Tetri Donté Byers, 39, of 397 Seattle St. Apt. 2B Shelby, NC departed this life on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.
Mr. Willie Louis Phillips, 89, formerly of 832 Carver St. Shelby departed this life on Monday, May 27, 2013 at Meadow Wood Nursing Center in Lowell, NC.

The Kosa retirees fished Lake Norman last week with the top three all finishing within just over a pound. JR Garland and Rick Maiers had 7.60 and took the win. Ken Johnson and Fred Wright brought in 7.20 and got second.
Katlin Burns, a senior at Burns High School and the South Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year, paced the Burns Lady Bulldogs' honorees.

Memorial Day has always symbolized more than its original purpose. It is supposed to allow us to reflect on the lives of those who died while serving in the armed forces in the United States. We would do well to both remember that and to take a moment to actually do it in some fashion.

Piecemakers Quilt Guild
Piecemakers Quilt Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Lincoln County Senior Center, Lincoln Campus of Gaston College, 511 Aspen Street, Lincolnton, NC, in room 319. We are here to teach and encourage those interested in the art of quilting. Visitors and new members are welcome. We also have a new class that meets on the second Thursday of each month from 10:00am to 3:00pm to provide one to one instruction to beginning quilters.
