Area towns plan Independence Day celebrations

Casar: Casar's July 4th Celebration will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021, beginning at 5 p.m. at Casar Park, 137 Deviney St., Casar. The Knob Creek Boys will be live on stage. Other activities will include an arm-wrestling contest, a turtle race, a talent show, a scavenger hunt and other games. Cherryville: The City of Cherryville's Independence Day Celebration will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021, at 300 E. Main St., Cherryville. The band "Too Much Sylvia" and DJ Johnny B will provide entertainment from 6-10 p.m., and the fireworks display will begin afterwards. Food vendors will also be available. Kings Mountain: The City of Kings Mountain is starting a new tradition of "Two Celebrations...One City!" on Saturday, July 3, 2021. Patriots Park in downtown Kings Mountain will be the site for food trucks, inflatables, a DJ and live music from the ACE Party Band from 6-10 p.m. For the first time ever the park will host a patriotic laser light show at 9:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the City of Kings Mountain will present its "signature, unrivaled" fireworks display from the Deal Park Walking track (located behind the YMCA at 211 N. Cleveland St.) with music that syncs to the show on radio station 101.1 FM. For more information, vist www.kingsmountainevents.com.

Lattimore: The annual Independence Day parade in Lattimore will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2021. The parade will feature antique cars, emergency vehicles, various floats, tractors, horses and much more. The Shriners go-cart team will also be doing stunts along the parade route. Biscuits will be offered for sale along the parade route, and concessions will be provided by the Lattimore Baptist Church youth program. A Patriotic Program will begin at approximately 10 a.m. at the Lattimore Recreation Park. Music will follow by the country/gospel quartet, Carolina. Participants are encouraged to bring a lawn chair. Mooresboro: The Town of Mooresboro will have its Independence Day Celebration on Sunday, July 4, 2021, beginning at 6 p.m. Entertainment will be provided, and food will be available for purchase. Inflatables will be available for children. A firework display will begin at dark. Those planning to attend are asked to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Shelby: Shelby's July 4th celebration will take place on Friday, July 2, 2021, at the Shelby City Park, located at 850 W. Sumter St. The swimming pool will be open from 12- 6 p.m., and the Carrousel and rotary train rides will be available from 1-6 p.m. Other highlights include food trucks, a fire juggler, a patriotic costume contest (for ages 12 and under) and a cornhole tournament at 5:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. For more information, search for "City of Shelby" on Facebook.
