Carl C. "Boozie" Dellinger

Carl C. "Boozie" Dellinger, age 86, of Tot Dellinger Road passed away Friday, July 9, 2021 at his home.

He was born December 11, 1934 in Gaston County to the late Blair and Elsie Hoyle Dellinger.

He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Boozie attended Wake Forest University and spent his career as a Supervisor with Carolina Freight. He was the President and Crier for the Cherryville New Year's Shooters. He was an avid sports fan and major supporter of Little League. Boozie was also an excellent farmer and specialized in growing strawberries. He had a green thumb and could make anything grow. He enjoyed reading and was a history buff. Boozie was well known for his sense of humor and his one-liners that could always get you laughing. He was a great man who will be deeply missed by his family and his community.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Travis Dellinger; brother, Hoyle Dellinger; sister, Dora Ellen Eaker; and granddaughter-in-law, Beverly Walls.

He is survived by his children, Becky Walls and husband, Ronnie of Cherryville and Mike 'Little Booze' Dellinger and Nicole Blaylock of Cherryville; grandchildren, Carly Dellinger, Chesley Walls and wife, Crystal, Travis Walls and wife, Whitney, Angie Anthony and husband, Wes, and Abby Brown and husband, Marcus; great-grandchildren, Katie Walls, Brent Walls, Lane Walker, Alli Anthony, Lawson Walls, Myles Brown, Alex Anthony and Silas Dellinger-Jenkins; and sister-in-law, Joyce Dellinger.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caregivers, Thelma Sims, Lisa McGowan, Wendy Hallman, and Charlie Lavery.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, July 11, 2021 at 4:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Vince Hefner and Rev. Jerry Lail officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 until 3:45 PM prior to the service in the Church COC.
