Cayden Roberts, a ninth grader at Shelby High School, holds her Certificate of Achievement presented by Amvets Post #42 Commander Randy Robbins. Miss Roberts took first place on the state level for her essay on "Thank a Veteran". Cayden said she learned about the essay from a school counselor and thought it would be a great opportunity to give an opinion on the topic of " Why you should say thank you to a veteran?". "Veterans have risk their lives to serve our country when others may not be able. If you ever get the chance to say thank you to one of these amazing human beings, don't let it slip away." The members of Amvets Post #42 would like to thank Cayden and all the other students in North Carolina that participated in the contest. Post #42 is located at 706 S. Morgan Street in Shelby.
