Clarence Black

SHELBY: Clarence Black, 70, died Friday, September 20, 2019, at Atrium Main in Charlotte. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late James Oliver and Laura Walker Black. Clarence served in the US Army, and was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church. He retired as a painter, and was a loving family man, always looking to help and give to others. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Claymon and Johnny Black. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn McMahan Black, of the home; daughters, Beverly Heath and husband Chris, and Laura McNeely and husband Clyde, both of Shelby; sisters, Brenda Eaker of Mooresboro, Norma Weaver and Lynn Barnett, both of Shelby; brother, Roger Black of Gaffney; grandchildren, Chloe, Emma, Lexi, Lucy, and Lucas; and special friends, Robert Thompson, Suniel Patel, and Thomas Pitawanakwat.

The family will receive friends 5:30-7:30pm, Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, and other times at the home of his sister, Lynn, 1808 Beaman St., Shelby. Funeral services will be 2pm, Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Faith Baptist Church, with the Rev. Johnny Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
