Grover couple and family, craft unique wood art pieces by hand
Overmountain Woodworks owners and operators Chuck and Brandy Greene with one of the American flags they recently made.

For past two decades, Overmountain Woodworks artisans turn ideas into beautiful creations.

If you're looking for that truly unique piece of Americana as your next Christmas gift, or just a gift in general, then look no further than the Greene's in Grover, NC.

Chuck and Brandy A. Greene, co-owners and operators of Overmountain Woodworks and Milling, along with daughters Erika and Erin, turn out some pretty impressive art with American, patriotic, and holiday themes.

They are well known in the area for their American flags pieces that seem to wave as if blowing in a steady wind.

Said Chuck, "We started making small wood projects and crafts approximately 20 years ago as gifts for friends and family." Brandy added, "From there, other people would see the projects we made, and ask us if we could make some for them."

The Greene's both grew up and attended school in Kings Mountain, they said, then bought a house in Grover when they got married. They have two daughters, Erika, 23, and Erin, 16, noted Brandy, who both enjoy working in the shop with their parents.

When asked where they get their inspiration, Brandy laughinglyreplied, "Our main inspiration is You Tube. I love You Tube!"

Chuck added, "Nature, for one thing. And, Doug Linker on You Tube. Also, (woodworker) Kyle Hall on You Tube, and Eric Caron, also on You Tube. These all offer great tutorials."

The Greene's said they are currently finishing up chainsawcarved Christmas trees and custom flags before Christmas.

"After Christmas, we plan to start another full-size (adultsize) rocking horse," said Chuck. Brandy added they are looking at new projects they can complete next year.

How they do what they do is essentially a secret they won't divulge, but there is a lot of hard work and time involved, they said.

That said, Brandy said for those wanting one or more of their artworks, "You can reach us at Overmountain Woodworks and Milling. We are listed on Facebook as Chuck Greene and Brandy Allred Greene, individually." Or you may call them on Chuck's cell phone, which is (704) 473-3873, though you may have to leave a message; or call Brandy's cell at (704) 284-8289.

"We will try our best to get back with you as soon
