John Henry Mitchell, age 79 of Shelby, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Josephine Williams Mitchell of the home, his children, Troy Poole (Jimmy), Kenneth Williams, Angeline Mitchell, Rodney Mitchell, and Henry Mitchell, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, a brother, David Mitchell (Lovie), and two sisters, Edna Mae Mitchell and Elizabeth Mitchell, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born November 8, 1940 in Cleveland Ohio, Henry was the son of the late Oscar Mitchell Sr. and Creola McKinney Mitchell, and was preceded in death by three children, Richard Mitchell, Adrian Baccus, and Howard Roberts, and his siblings, Oscar Mitchell Jr., Rufus Mitchell, Odell Mitchell, Bobby Mitchell, John Mitchell, and Carrie Mitchell.

Henry was an outgoing person. He enjoyed walking, cooking, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family and friends. Henry was the kind of person that loved everyone and had never met a stranger.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
