More Info.: Our program will spotlight local foods:

The breakfast meal, graciously sponsored by Shelby Kiwanis Club, will be prepared on site from an assortment of local ingredients... farm-fresh eggs, grits, biscuits, honey, molasses, butter, country ham, pork sausage, bacon, livermush, sweet potatoes, and apple cider.

The educational program will include a presentation on the local foods movement that is sweeping the nation and the economic, health, environmental and social benefits of eating locally.

Carolina Farm Credit will present its Excellence in Agriculture Award to a notable local farmer during the breakfast.

Cleveland County Farm Bureau will announce the winners of our student essay contest, who wrote on the theme, "Why We Should Eat Local Foods".

The event is free, but limited to the first 150 people who call (704) 482-4365 to reserve their seats.

More Info: Atrium Health Cleveland and Atrium Health Kings Mountain are looking for adult volunteers to bring caring and compassionate support to patients and their families. There are many opportunities that can work with your schedule: Guest Services at the information desk; Patient Advisers to assist with enhancing the patient experience; Patient Ambassadors to assist nursing units; Patient Transport (golf cart shuttle) in the visitor parking lot; ICU Waiting/Surgery Waiting family support; Clerical work; Pet visitations with owner. Drop in for one of the Volunteer Recruitment fairs and meet some of our current volunteers to learn more.

More Info.: Ryland is the son of Austin and Megan Smith. Dinner includes: Pintos, slaw, macaroni & cheese, livermush, cornbread, dessert, and drink. Take out plates available. Donations only. All proceeds go to help Ryland and his family for medical expenses.
