Weldon G. Lancaster

Weldon G. Lancaster, 79, died Thursday, July 8, 2021 at his home.

A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late George Lancaster and Kathleen Hamrick Lancaster Williams. Weldon retired from Hericht Celanese as an electrician. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and Cleveland Masonic Lodge #202. He was a former member of the Gideons, and previously served as a church deacon and Sunday school teacher. He enjoyed playing the banjo and was a master gardener.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Beam and Margaret Murray; and brothers, Dan and Melvin Lancaster.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Gladys Cooper Lancaster of the home; sons, Michael Lancaster and wife Merle of Greenville, SC and Gene Lancaster and wife Julie of California, KY; daughter, Sandra Patrick and husband Stephen of Gastonia; brother, William Lancaster and wife Pat of Gaffney; grandchildren, Lauren and Abbey Lancaster; great grandson, Colby Wright; and his beloved poodle, Chris Ann. Funeral services will be held 2pm, Monday, July 12, 2021 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Trexler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Building Fund.
