Roger Dale Thrift, 57, of Shelby, died on Saturday, March 19, 2011.  A native of Cleveland County, he is the son of the late Hillard Thrift, Sr. and Genelle Ross Thrift.  He is also preceded in death by six brothers, Charles Thrift, David Thrift, Richard Thrift, Bobby Thrift, Hillard Thrift Jr., Harold Thrift; and a sister, Alma Thrift Carpenter.   Mr. Thrift served his country in the United States Air Force from 1973-1976.

Mr. Thrift is survived by a brother, J.T. Thrift and wife Martha of Kings Mountain; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Grover with military honors.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00pm prior to the service at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.
