Annie "Ruby" Raines Stroud Annie "Ruby" Raines Stroud, 89, of 329 Reece Rd. Shelby departed this life on April 11, 2015 at Hospice of Wendover. She attended Palmer Grove Baptist Church where she was honored to be the oldest member in her church family. Her love of making quilts and baking cakes brought joy to her. She was the daughter of the late George and Daisy Raines and Mose Jennings. Ruby lost her parents while still very young and was raised by the late Salister and Willie Howard of Athens Ga. Ruby was married to the late John W. (Jake) Stroud Sr. After moving to Shelby, she was employed in domestic service for many families. She was preceded in death by one son, Alfonso Raines, a grandson Anthony Morgan, four Brothers, J.T., James (Ned), Willie, and Walter Raines, three sisters Hattie Raines, Georgia Lee Edwards, and Nellie Freeman. Ruby is survived by her sons, John W Stroud Jr. (Wanda) of Forest City, Jesse Stroud (Janet) of Mooresboro, daughters Martha Stroud and Donna Stroud of New Jersey, Hester Montgomery (Gary) of Lake Lure, NC, Cora Logan (Freddie deceased) of Raleigh, NC and Sheila Logan (Wayne) of Shelby, three sisters, Lula Mae Madden, Geneva Forney, Mozelle Freeman all of Georgia, and one brother Jerry Jennings of TN. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great- grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
