Anther Sue Towery Spurling Hoyle
Shelby - Anther Sue Towery Spurling Hoyle, 90, formerly of Fallston passed away at Shelby Manor on Monday, September 19, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Cleveland County on January 21, 1926 to the late Lark Leonard Towery and Eva Louella Brackett Towery. She was a retired self-employed beautician and a member of Fallston Baptist Church, Philathean Sunday School Class, choir member, and Women's Missionary Union.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her two husbands, Ellis Decatur Spurling and Deward Alvin Hoyle; step-daughter, Ann Hoyle Champion; grandson, Jeffery Ellis Spurling; two brothers, Forney Lane Towery and D.W. Towery; and sister, Daphine Hamrick.
She is survived by her son, Ellis D. Spurling, Jr. and wife, Bonita of Cherryville; three daughters, Sara Miller and husband, Steve of Vale, Lynn Willis and husband, Rodney of Belwood, and Wanda Pate and husband, Alan of Beaufort; two brothers, Tate Towery of Shelby and Bobby Towery of Marietta, Ga; sister, Marie Royster of Fallston; four grandchildren, Julia Register and husband, Scott of Huntersville, Angela Brooks and husband, Kevin of Lawndale, Charlie Willis of Belwood, and Ben Willis and wife, Mollie of Rocky Mount; four great grandchildren, Collin & Mira Register and Avery and Rhett Brooks.
The family will receive friends on 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Tuesday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday at Fallston Baptist Church with the Rev. David Blanton and Dr. Tim Elmore officiating.
The burial will follow in the Norman's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
