Ash Wednesday, February 14, 2018 is the beginning of the penitential season of Lent. Worship at 12:30 (Service of the Word) or at 7:00pm (Holy Communion) and receive the imposition of ashes. The sign of the ashes remind us of our human mortality and frailty and that we receive God's mercy and forgiveness.

Executive Director, Larry Wilson of this wonder children's home will share with us how the devastating disease of HIV/Aids decimated and entire generation of Kenyan children. "Truth and Tea Time" will be held at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 198 Pleasant Ridge Church Road, Shelby, NC, Tuesday, February 20, 2018, 6:15-8:15pm. LaLisa Carpenter is the wife of Craig, the mother of eight children (three biological and five adopted). Lalisa is currently a family nurse practitioner at McDowell Medical Center in Marion, NC. She has led several medical mission teams with Hands on Missions in Shelby, NC. Her life, like many, has had its difficulties. She watched her mother battle dementia, was herself diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. However, nothing would prepare her for the illness and death of one of her children. Join them as LaLisa discusses how God's grace has brought her through and continues to carry her through some of the darkest days of her life.
