Betty Clairenteen Kennerley Lawing, 80, of 843 E. Zion Church Rd, Shelby,

died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.

Born June 21, 1932 in Mecklenburg County, she was a daughter of the late

Walter Wesley Kennerley and Edith Florence Parker Kennerley.   She was a

homemaker and a member of New Prospect Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Burmah

Dixon Lawing; two brothers, Allen Kennerley and G.M. Kennerley; and two

sisters, Edith K. Beatty and Argoldu K. Trull.

Survivors include her son, Bill Lawing of Stanley; daughter, Regina Lail and

husband, Sam of Shelby; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and two

sisters, Rebecca K. Morris of Charlotte and Rachel Kennerley of Waxhaw.

The family will greet friends following the graveside service.

Graveside Service: 11:00 AM, Friday at Hillcrest Gardens, Mt. Holly
