Mrs. Betty Sue Viola Hamby Barnett, 76, of 123 Oak Grove - Clover Hill Church Road, Lawndale, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at her daughter's home in Casar.

Born on January 1, 1938 in Cleveland County,  she was a daughter of Dora Olive Downs Hamby of Casar and the late Jake Hamby.  Betty was a member of Polkville United Methodist Church and retired from National Textile in Rutherford County.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by infants,  Bobby, David and Barbara; sister, Winnie Hamby; sister-in-law, Katherine Hamby and niece, Kendra Hamby Bradley.

In addition to her mother, Betty is survived her husband of fifty-eight years, Bobby Gene "Bob" Barnett; son, Mitchell Barnett of Polkville; daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn Barnett and Mitchell Hudson of Casar and Pat Barnett of Casar; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth Hamby of Casar, Wayne and Gayla Hamby of Morganton, Richard and Betty Hamby of Casar, and Don and Sheila Hamby of Tennessee; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Danny Smith of Casar and granddaughter, Dawn Hudson of Casar.

Visitation:  The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 pm Wednesday at Stamey Funeral Home.  A guest register is available at www.stameyfuneralhome.com.

Funeral:  The funeral will be at 1:00 pm Thursday at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Bill Lovelace and Jerry Hudson officiating.
