Buna McNeilly Canipe

December 4, 2012 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center in Shelby. Born December 18, 1922 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Grayson McNeilly and Blanche Laura Hoyle McNeilly. She was retired from Cleveland Mills as a winder and was a member of Polkville Baptist Church where she was a faithful attender of the Monday night prayer group. Mrs. Canipe is well known for her cakes including wedding cakes and birthday cakes. She credits her long life to reading her Bible daily. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hughes Canipe; daughter, Jo Anne Canipe; son and daughter-in-law, Deward and Gail Canipe; four brothers, Ralph McNeilly, Jerry McNeilly, Raeford McNeilly and Quinton McNeilly; and two sisters, Pauline Brackett and Edith Hastings. Survivors include two sons, Bill Canipe and wife Glenda and Larry Canipe and wife Mary all of Lawndale; daughter, Jan C. Lunsford and husband, Mark of Arden; brother, Donald McNeilly of Casar; and five sisters, Daphine Canipe of Lattimore,Josephine Huffman of Casar, Martha Jean Wilson of Icard, Eloise Martin of Valdese and Brenda Williams of Casar; seven grandchildren, Andy Canipe, Scott Canipe, Amy Mittelman, Billy Canipe, Kim Canipe, Suzanne Canipe and Elliot Lunsford and eight great grandchildren. Visitation: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston. At other times the family will be at the home of Bill and Glenda Canipe, 905 Arbor Drive, Lawndale. Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Thursday at Polkville Baptist Church, Polkville. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service. Officiating: Rev. Rick Hamrick and Rev.
