Charlotte Beverly Ponder, 67, died Thursday June 27, 2013 at Hospice of Catawba Valley.  Born in Cleveland County she was the daughter of the late George McClure Edwards, Jr. and Martha Marie Mauney Edwards. She was a member of Clover Hill United Methodist Church. She graduated from Burns High School at Polkville, Gardner Webb College and Kings College. She retired as an administrative assistant from Cleveland Community College. She was an avid college basketball fan and loved watching Duke basketball games. She enjoyed spending time with family and loved the beach. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her grandparents, William White Mauney and Nellie Bechtler Mauney, George McClure Edwards, Sr. and Charlotte Falls Edwards.

Beverly is survived by her daughter, Ellen Lail and husband Tim of Newton; a brother, Myron Edwards of Lawndale; grandson, Brandon Williams; step grandchildren, Cierra Lail and Dylan Lail.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday June 30, 2013, at Clover Hill United Methodist Church at 3:00 pm with Rev. Ed Lee officiating. The family will receive friends at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm before the graveside service.
