Clarence Edward London
Clarence Edward London, 89, of Polkville Road, Polkville, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Carolinas HealthCare System - Cleveland in Shelby.
He was born on January 16, 1928 to the late Morgan Nelson London and Cora Lee Gordon London. He was retired from Jenkins Foods and a member of Polkville United Methodist Church, The Methodist Men, Camp Call Masonic Lodge 534 and the Board of Directors for the Polkville Volunteer Fire Department. Clarence also served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Dwight "Whitey" London and four sisters, Dorothy Willis, Pauline Docterman, Ruth Bunn and Betty Hede.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Betty Greene London; two daughters, Karla Cline and husband, Steve of Lawndale and Sandy Costner and husband, Jeff of Cherryville; brother, Datha London of Shelby; two grandchildren, Jeff Cline and wife, Tracy of Vale and Morgan Costner of Cherryville; and two great grandchildren, Nathan & Nora Cline.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston.
The funeral services will be on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Polkville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Lovelace and Rev. Mike Duncan officiating. The body will lie in state thirty minutes before the service at the church.
The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
