Mark Hughes author of "The New Confederate Handbook" spoke to the crowd at the Confederate Memorial Day Service on the Courtsquare in Shelby on May 7th 2016. The Memorial Service was sponsored by Sons of Confederate Veterans Cleveland Regiment Camp #1663. The state of North Carolina recognizes May 10th each year as Confederate Memorial Day. The honor guard from the Burke Tigers Camp 2162 participated during the Confederate Memorial Day service on the Courtsquare in Uptown Shelby on May 7th.
