Mr. Ernest Odom, Jr., 83, of 950 Hardin Dr., formerly of Maxton, NC, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Somerset Court of Shelby.

Mr. Odom was born in Robeson County, NC a son of the late Ernest Odom, Sr. and Teresa Sims Odom.  He was retired as a self employed as a building contractor and a member of Central Presbyterian Church of Maxton and was in the US Air Force as a tail gunner during WWII.

Survivors include his daughter Lorna O. Ross and husband John of Cherryville; two sons, Andrew D. Odom and wife Leighann of Greenville, NC and Zane B. Odom of Salisbury; three grandchildren, Christopher W. Ross, Wesley L. Ross and Leighton Odom and two sisters, Louise Odom Clark and Ernestine McCrae both of Maxton.

In addition to his parents Mr. Odom was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Davis Odom.

A Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 6:00 until 7:30PM at Shady Grove Baptist Church Family Life Center.

Burial will be private.
