James Junior Lewis, 83, of 1631 North Oak Drive, Shelby, passed away
Saturday November 4, 2017 at home.

Born July 19, 1934 in Watauga County, he was a son of the late James Emory
Lewis and Mary Alice Church Lewis. He was retired from Carolina Freight
Carriers and attended Ross Grove Baptist Church. He served in the US Army
during the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jamie
Lewis; four brothers, Roy Lewis, Howard Lewis, Emory Lewis and Austin Lewis
and two sisters, Lillian Greer and Ruth Yarber.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Joanne Carroll Lewis; two sons,
James Michael Lewis of Lawndale and David Wayne Lewis of Cherryville; two
brothers, Kermit Lewis of Mountain City, TN and Earl Lewis of Todd; a
granddaughter, Emily Lewis of Shelby; seven great-grandchildren, Jake,
Ethan, Eli and Noah Lewis and Ayden, Bryson and Addlyn Bess.

Visitation will be 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Tuesday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral
Home.

A funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Marcus McGill officiating.

Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston.
