James Lee Peeler, age 88, died June 6, 2014 at Wendover Hospice.  Born in Cleveland County on April 26, 1926, he was the son of the late John Henry Peeler and Ava Elizabeth Wright Peeler.  James served in the U.S. Air Force and was self-employed in machinery sales and repair. In addition to his parents, J.L. is preceded in death by his wife, Vergie Sigmon Peeler; a son, Donald “Donnie” S. Peeler; a sister, Frances Peeler Lloyd; and a nephew Ronald Denton

James is survived by stepson Reggie Lane (Susan) of Durham; stepdaughter Patsy Clark (Gary) of Conover; grandson Chad A. Peeler of Charleston, SC; step grandchildren Summer Sims, Jonathan Lane,  Winter Lane, Kelly Moore (Tim) and Terri Clark, and  nieces Denise Hullender (Joe), Judy Denton; and numerous other great-nieces and great- nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday June 17, 2014 in the Chapel of  Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Joe Allen officiating. Burial will be follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
