Jeffrey Scudder
It is with deep sadness that the Scudder family announces that Jeffrey Scudder, 71, of Casar, NC passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10th.
Originally from Englishtown, New Jersey, Jeff was a technology fanatic from an early age; from trains, boats, motorcycles and cars, eventually going to General Motors Institute (GMI) in Flint, Michigan to become an Industrial Engineer, working with numerous automotive and industrial companies. His heart belonged to the smell of gasoline and loved riding his motorcycle, drag racing his Buick GSX at Raceway Park, and also working on the safety crew there. Later, he helped a friend to open a service garage that would become one of the most trusted automotive garages in central Jersey. Later, Jeff and Robin would relocate to North Carolina, where Jeff ran the Leonard Building and Truck Accessory store in Shelby for the next 20 years; making it one of the best run stores in the company, a trusted local source among customers, and one of the best stores for Dealer Sales, despite its small size and location in a small town. His pride and joy was his 1932 Ford Tudor Sedan that he bought in very rough shape and fixed up and street-rodded alongside Robin and Gahre; traveling and putting thousands of miles on it attending car shows in the US and Canada, spending time with friends, and winning multiple awards at these shows. One of his favorite memories was taking the '32 "home" again to Detroit and to the Henry Ford Museum. Jeff was known for being a quiet person, often found behind his newspaper, opening up more as he got to know you. Other than car shows he never had a big interest in travel, until he went to Las Vegas for the SEMA show for the first time, and then he became interested in going around; traveling to Texas and Florida for automotive tradeshows, taking a Caribbean cruise, and going to Germany; fulfilling dreams of visiting the Porsche Museum, Mercedes-Benz Museum, and the famous Nürburgring Race Track. Jeff is preceded in death by his loving wife Robin, and will be dearly missed by son Gahre, daughter Connie (Greg), grandson Luke, and many friends and family.
