Jewell Blanton Fortenberry age 79, died Saturday August 17, 2013 at Hospice Kings Mountain. Born on July 18, 1934 in Cleveland County she was the daughter of the late Palmer and Laura Bridges Blanton. She was an active member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. She served as a past president of her Sunday School Class, the Margie Bible Class, and was a member of the Mt. Sinai Quilters. She was a former member of the Eastern Star. Jewell loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting and painting. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edd Fortenberry; a daughter, Dale White; and a sister, Joyce Scism.

Mrs. Fortenberry is survived by a son, Scott Fortenberry and wife Wanda of Shelby; a daughter, Bobbie Jo Fortenberry of Bladenboro; five grandchildren, Becky Deese and husband Steven, Jennifer Ward and husband Bobby, Susan Fortenberry, Laura Willyard and husband Chris, and Amber Fortenberry; six great grandchildren; and a special friend, Barbara Ellis.

Services will be held on Tuesday August 20, 2013 at 1:00pm in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Tim Trexler officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 until 7:30 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
