Joe Byrum Scism, Sr., 82, of 3412 Robert Cornwell Rd. in Lawndale, passed
away August 2, 2015 at home.

Born April 29, 1933 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late C.D. Scism
and Beulah Dedmon Scism. Mr. Scism dedicated his life as an agriculture
farmer which was his passion and was a member of Double Shoals Baptist
Church. Mr. Scism also served in the US Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James
C. Scism and Clyde Scism, and three sisters, Ethel Scism Farmer, Betty Scism
Spake, and Dot Scism Seagraves.

Survivors include one son & daughter-in-law, Joe Scism Jr. & Paige of
Lawndale, two daugters, Janie Scism of Charlotte and Amanda Scism Gettys &
Eric of Shelby, three grandchildren, Luke Scism, Caleb Scism, and Manuel
Gettys, and one sister, Lib Scism Carpenter of Hickory.

The memorial service will be 4:00PM Thursday at Double Shoals Baptist Church
with Rev. Chris Patterson officiating.

Visitation will be immediately following the service in the church
fellowship hall.

Memorials may be made to Cliffords Army Rescue or to the donors choice.
