John Walter Corwine, Jr.

John Walter Corwine, Jr. (“Corkey”), born in Bonne Terre, MO, served in the U. S.

Merchant Marines and graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego

and the University of Missouri-Rolla. He began his career at the United States Bureau

of Mines and worked as an engineer, teacher and executive at various companies and

institutions until his retirement in 2008. He was an enthusiastic traveler as well as an

avid reader, golfer and bowler. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth (Lisa), his

grandchildren Fielder and Paige, and his sons Matthew and Jonathan.

He will be remembered privately by his immediate family. In lieu of flowers, John’s

children encourage a donation in his name to organizations that promote literacy.
