Where: Baker Buffalo Creek Vineyards & Winery, 3521 Fallston Waco Rd., Lawndale, NC. More Info: Join us as we celebrate "DOGUST 1st", the official universal birthday for shelter and rescue dogs! Whether your best friend is a rescue, you're looking to adopt, or you simply love dogs, this is an afternoon you won't want to miss. Bring your family, your friends, and your leashed, well-behaved pups for an afternoon of fun, food, music, and wagging tails, all while supporting the lifesaving work of Clifford's Army Rescue. Event Highlights, Alex Wolfe Music, Spirit of America Food Truck, serving from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Birthday Cake Celebration. Help us celebrate the universal birthday of all shelter and rescue dogs with a special birthday cake and treats! Puppy Swimming Pools. Because every birthday party is better with a splash! Meet some of our incredible adoptable dogs and puppies who are searching for loving forever homes. Award-Winning wine & beautiful vineyard setting. Relax, enjoy the beautiful surroundings, sip a glass of wine, and spend the afternoon supporting a great cause. Every adoption, every donation, every purchase, and every share helps Clifford's Army Rescue continue caring for more than 100 plus dogs, while we work to complete our future rescue facility and save even more lives. What: Community Blood Drive When: 9:00 am until 12:30 pm, August 1. Where: Cleveland Co Arts Council, 111 S. Washington St., Shelby, NC. More Info: Oneblood is the primary blood supplier to Atrium Hospitals. Donors receive a $25 e-gift card and a Oneblood t-shirt.

What: Back to School Clothing Give Away When: 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm, August 1. Where: Lawndale Baptist Church, 407 W. Main St., Lawndale, NC. More Info: The clothing giveaway is not only for school aged kids, it is for the whole family. Anyone in need of clothes please come out. Gently used clothing and shoes. Sunday, August 2 What: Belwood Heritage Museum When: 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, August 2. Where: Old Belwood School, 133 Carpenter's Grove Church Rd., Lawndale, NC. More Info: On display are household items, furniture, appliances, clothing, pictures, tractors, farm equipment, and numerous interesting items from rural life in the late 1800s early 1900s, all donated by members of the local community. Admission is free.
Saturday, August 8 What: Benefit Fundraiser Breakfast When: 9:00 am until 11:00 am, August 8. Where: VFW Post 4066, 855 W. Sumter St., Shelby, NC. More Info: Bacon, livermush, eggs, grits, gravy & biscuits, tea and coffee. 100% donation only fund-raiser. Proceeds benefit local Veterans.
What: Fundraiser Chopped Sirloin Supper When: 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, August 8. Where: Ruritan Club, 2500 Hollis Road, Ellenboro, NC. More Info: Chopped Sirloin Supper with chopped sirlion, baked potato or french fries, salad, dessert and beverage. $13 for adults, under 12, free. Nar-Anon Support Group: Meets 6:30 pm weekly on Tuesdays at the First Baptist Church, 120 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. Nar-Anon is a support group for those affected by someone else's drug addiction. We meet in the classroom off Dale St. between Sumter & Campbell St. Park on the side of the church or in the alley.
