The Kiwanis Club of Shelby recently awarded two Volunteer of the Year awards to Doug Sharp and Bill Horn of the Cleveland County Potato Project. It is the goal of the Cleveland County Potato Project (CCPP), a non-profit charitable organization, to produce white and sweet potatoes to be given to people in need of food. Local agencies are given these potatoes at no cost to distribute to their clients.
   “It was a pleasure to present this award to the Cleveland County Potato Project for their outstanding service to the community.” said David Costner, Kiwanis President.
   Kiwanis Club of Shelby was chartered on September 28, 1922 and started the Cleveland County Fair in 1923. Kiwanis is committed to helping the children in our neighborhoods and communities, changing the world, one child and one community at a time. Kiwanis Club of Shelby also supports 20 Children's programs throughout Cleveland County.
