Mr. Lamer Shelton Hamrick, 84, of 1930 Riverhill Dr., died Monday September 26, 2011 at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Victor L. and Rachel Clary Hamrick. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School teacher in the children and youth department, and sang in the choir. In recent days he faithfully attended worship services. He was a retired textile worker and farmer and loved to fish and read. He enjoyed a large extended family and special friends who all affectionately knew him as PawPaw Lamer.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Sue Bostic Hamrick; sisters, Nellie Sue Fraiser, Nancy Mayes and Annie Rae Bridges; brother, Fred Hamrick.

SURVIVED: He is survived by one son, Ronnie Hamrick and wife Denise of Lincolnton; one daughter, Suzanne Hamrick Ledbetter and husband Ricky of the home; beloved granddaughters, Amy Hayes and husband Jason of Shelby, Kelly Rossi and husband Rusty of Raeford, NC; two brothers, Keever Hamrick of Kings Mountain and Dr. Ector Hamrick and wife Carol of Portsmouth, VA; one sister, Emily Mayes of Kings Mountain; a great granddaughter, Jada Hayes of Shelby; a number of brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Also he is survived by special friends, Sue and Earsel Robinson of Lincolnton; Margie Ledbetter and Michael Ledbetter of Shelby. All are left to cherish fond memories, especially his caregiver and granddaughter, Amy Hayes.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor and other times at the home.

CLERGY: Rev. Tim Trexler, Dr. Ector Hamrick, Rev. Wayne Holley and Rev. Broadus Heatherly will be officiating.

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.

MEMORIALS: In Lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Sound System update and DVD ministry, 1227 Mt. Sinai Church Rd, Shelby, NC 28152.
