Lincolnton - Mr. Larry W. Stanley, Sr., 65, of Guy Heavner Road, died
unexpectedly on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at his residence.

Larry was born on March 7, 1953 in Buncombe County, NC the son of the late
J.R. Stanley and Ruth Hampton Baxter. Larry was retired after 33 years with
the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department where he served as patrol
supervisor, patrol lieutenant and he retired with the rank of Chief Deputy.
During his tenure he received his Advanced Service award and was a two time
recipient of the Officer of the Year award.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lela
Hampton and a nephew Tommy Baxter, III.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Ann Baxter Stanley of the home; two
sons, Steven Baxter and wife Johnna; Larry Stanley, II; three grandchildren,
Seth Baxter, Tyler Stanley and Jenna Baxter; a brother Jim Baxter (Denise)
and family; a sister, Tammy Stanley; mother-in-law, Mabel Baxter; a
brother-in-law, Tommy Baxter; niece, Malinda Smith and family; children of
his late nephew Tommy Baxter, III; a sister-in-law, Kathy Baxter; niece,
Melissa Avery and family; aunt Dean Medford; also surviving are a number of
cousins.

Visitation will be on from 4:00 to 6:00PM on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at
Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, March 4, 2019 at
Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred May officiating.

Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.
