Lawrence "Larry" Henry Greenwood

Fallston, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at his residence.
Born January 16, 1931 in Berkley Springs, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Lawrence Henry Greenwood, Sr. and Dorothy Margaret Hillman Greenwood.
Rev. Greenwood was licensed to preach in 1954 and married Alpha Jane Hicks of Fallston, NC on August 5, 1956. He attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and graduated from Morris Harvey College and Duke University Divinity School. He served over a period of 42 years at the following churches all in West Virginia, Trinity United Methodist, Bluefield, Jenkinjones UMC, Sophia UMC, Buffalo-Winfield UMC, Morris Memorial UMC Charleston, Westmoreland UMC, Huntington and Beverly Hills UMC, Huntington.
After retirement in June 1995 he and his wife, Jane moved to her home place in Fallston, NC which they had purchased and remodeled. Rev. Greenwood's activities after retirement consisted of him preaching occasionally, served as a trustee at Aldersgate UMC, served on the Board of Cleveland County Council on Aging. He also was on the Executive Committee, Blue Ribbon Committee in planning for the new Senior Center and Board of Directors of West Warren Manor. Rev. Greenwood also enjoyed wood working, gardening, photography, participating in table tennis, badmitten, basketball shooting and three on three basketball.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Hicks Greenwood; daughter Tammy Lynn Greenwood Mays and husband, Sam of Jacksonville, Fl; son, Christopher Lee and wife, Susan Greenwood of Milton, West Virginia; three grandchildren, Austin Christopher, Donevan Samuel and Kyle Issac Greenwood; two brothers, Tom and Harriet Greenwood of Germantown, Tenn; and Frank and Edna Greenwood of Grapevine, TX and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Saturday at the Narthex of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Shelby
Memorial Service: 3:00 PM, Saturday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church

Burial: Private
