 Margaret Janette Newton Stamey, 75, of 4634 Doublehead Drive, Connelly Springs, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Grace Hospital in Morganton.

Born August 18, 1937 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Romie Vesco Newton and Maude Bivens Newton.  She was retired from Hickory Spinners.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Newton.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Jimmy Roosevelt Stamey; two sons, Chris Stamey and wife, Ann  and Jimmy Stamey and wife, Kim all of Hickory; two daughters, Brenda Wright and husband, Clarence of Lincolnton and Darlene Teague of Connelly Springs; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon Newton of Casar and Steve Newton of Lawndale and sister, Judy Costner of Casar.

Visitation: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday  at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Sunday at St. Paul Baptist Church, Casar

Officiating: Rev. Tommy Cook

Burial: St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery, Casar
