Marie Margarete Ulms Menken Hackney, 95, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on May 25, 2019 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, NC. She was born in Norden, Germany, to the late Onno Ippen Menken and Wilmine Mentjes Menken and was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee Hackney. Marie moved to Kings Mountain in 2005 to become a part of the Kahal Adat Yisrael Congregation. She always took pride in the fact that she had written her own Torah Scroll. Her Bat Mitzvah was conducted when Marie was in her eighties. She was very proud of finding her true Jewish heritage. She was a wonderful friend and will be missed dearly by the people who knew and loved her.

Marie is survived by two sisters, Wilhelmine and Freida and nieces and nephews, Ruth, Mary, Paul, Carol and Lois.
