Mary Richards Blanton McMurry, 74 of Hicks Hill Road, Lawndale passed away,
Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Testa Hospice House in Kings Mountain.

Born March 1, 1943 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late
William Elmer Richards and Mayzelle Martin Richards. Mrs. McMurry was
retired after 30 years of service with Cleveland County Schools. She was a
charter member of Cleveland County Association of Educational Office
Personnel and was a member of Christian Fellowship Church. She loved
spending time in her flower garden and watching deer and humming birds. She
loved spending time with her family and loved every child she met as her
own.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by the father of her
children, William "Bill" Blanton; two sisters, Charlene Putnam and husband,
John and Jody Richards Willis; and a niece, Kathy Ondrovich.

Survivors include a son, William L. Blanton, Jr. and wife, Tracy of
Sherrills Ford; a daughter, Mary Blanton of Iron Station; two grandchildren,
Preston Blanton and Ashley Ervin; two great grandchildren, Jeremy Ervin and
Megan Ervin; a brother, William M. Richards and wife, Iris of Casar; a
sister, Paula Marshall and husband, Bill of Lawndale and special friends,
Bill Putnam of Cliffside, Josh Morgan of Fallston, Randy McNeilly of Shelby
and Kay Green of Cherryville. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews,
great nieces and great nephews all of which were like her children.

Visitation will be 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM, Friday at Christian Fellowship
Church.

Funeral service will be 2:30 PM, Friday at Christian Fellowship Church with
Rev. Lloyd Hunt officiating.

Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
