Nannie Lee Morris Hunt
Nannie Lee Morris Hunt, 92, of 542 Mt. Zion Church Road, Casar, passed away, Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Wendover Hospice House.
She was born February 10, 1924 in Cleveland County, to the late Robert Lowder Morris and Zula Ledford Morris. After 30 years of service she retired from Dover Mill of Shelby. She was a member of New Home United Methodist Church of Casar for almost her entire life and was an active member of the United Methodist Women. She loved to sew and especially loved quilt making. Nannie has made and given away over 100 quilts in her lifetime. She loved stamp collecting, ceramics, yard sales and collecting cream pitchers. Nannie was loved and respected by many.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Morris and Carl Morris and two sisters, Elizabeth Bridges and Margie Newton
Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Hugh Warren Hunt; daughter, Nancy Hunt Sexton and husband, Buddy of Denton; three sons, Hugh Leonard Hunt and wife, Judy of Lawndale; James Milton Hunt and wife, Cheryl of Boone and Michael Evans Hunt and wife, Beth of The Woodlands, Texas; a brother, R.L. Morris, Jr. of Morganton; a sister, Jennie Roper of Morganton; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, 846 E. Stagecoach Trail, Fallston, NC 28042.
The funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday at New Home United Methodist Church, 429 Moriah School Road, Casar, NC 28020 with Rev. Eddie Padgett officiating. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes before the service.
Burial will follow in church cemetery.
