What: C.A.R.E. Charity Golf Tournament

Where: Deer Brook Golf Course, 201 Deer Brook Dr., Shelby, NC.
More Info: Come join us for a fun day for Clifford's Army Rescue's 6th Annual Golf Tournament. It's our biggest fundraising event of the year, all to help those with no voice, the many, many dogs CARE has in rescue care. Shotgun start at 12 noon, sign ups start at 10 am. $75 a person, four person teams, Captain's Choice. Mulligan, Red Tee & String Package for $10. Door prizes, silent auction and much more. Lunch is included too ! All proceeds benefit those with no voice. Clifford's Army Rescue works with feral, frightened, injured, abandoned, neglected, abused and sick animals, returning them to good health and then finding them the perfect home and family. You can also sign up in advance on Facebook, Clifford's Army Rescue Extravaganza. Click on the Events page and then Discussion. Fill out the form online and just pay when you get to the course. C.A.R.E (Clifford's Army Rescue Extravaganza) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all volunteer, dog rescue organization.

What: National Crime Victims' Rights Week
When: 11:00 am until 2:00 pm, April 25.
Where: Bobby Bell Pavilion, 126 W. Marion St., Shelby, NC.
More Info: Please join us for Options, Services, and Hope for Crime Survivors in Cleveland County to commemorate National Crime Victims' Rights Week. We will be hosting a resource fair around the pavilion, welcoming a keynote speaker who will share about her experience as a violent crime survivor, as well as engaging in a commemorative activity to encourage survivors and assure them that they are not alone...that there is hope. We would love to have as much support from our community as possible, so please come out! Can't wait to see you there!

What: Cleveland Lincoln County Rose Society
When: 2:30 pm, April 27.
Where: Cleveland County Extension Office, 130 S. Post Rd., Shelby, NC.
More Info: The program will be presented by Steve Arrowood, Show Chairman and Consulting Rosarian on preparing your roses for a rose show. Anyone can enter roses in our 48th rose show coming up May 31th in Shelby. Join us for this program and learn how to prepare your roses. Refreshments will be served.


Saturday, May 3
What: HIKE with the CARE RESCUE DOGS
When: 10:00 am until Noon, May 3.
Where: Kings Mountain Gateway Trail, 807 South Battleground Ave, Kings Mountain, NC.
More Info: Hikes will be the first Saturday of every month, weather permitting. (check on Clifford's FB Event pages each month) This is a great way to get some fresh air and exercise while helping a CARE doggie get out, socialize, and be seen by potential adopters. Its a win win for humans and doggies. You may even make some new friends ! We have many dogs in rescue, young, older, small, medium, large, so there is one for everyone's interest and needs. Just let us know when you sign up, in the comment section, what size and energy level of dog you would like to walk, so we can match you with a dog. What: Hopewell-Hollis Ruritan BBQ
When: Noon until Sold Out, May 3.
Where: Hopewell-Hollis Ruritan Club, 2500 Hollis Rd., Ellenboro, NC.

Nar-Anon Support Group: Meets 6:30 pm weekly on Tuesdays at the First Baptist Church, 120 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. Nar-Anon is a support group for those affected by someone else's drug addiction. We meet in the classroom off Dale St. between Sumter & Campbell St. Park on the side of the church or in the alley. Al-Anon Support Groups: Al-Anon Family Support Groups support those who are affected by someone else's drinking and drug use. No Name AFG meets on Mondays at Noon at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 510 W Sumter St., Shelby. Contact Kay at 704-473-4891. Monthly Meeting at American Legion, Post 82: 2nd Monday of every month. Meal at 6:00 pm, Meeting at 6:30 pm. Warren F. Hoyle, American Legion, Post 82, 1628 South Lafayette St., Shelby, NC. We invite all Veterans to attend our monthly meetings. If you are a son or grandson of a veteran, you can join the Sons of the American Legion. Members of the Legion family can join the Legion Riders. To join the American Legion, the veteran holds an honorable discharge or is an active duty veteran. Spouses, daughters, granddaughters of a veteran can join the Auxiliary.

Writer's INK: local Writers group next meeting will be held on Friday, May 2nd at the small conference room at Cleveland County Library from 1-3pm. This group meets on the first Friday of each month and welcomes writer's of all genre and levels.

Chess: We meet each month on the fourth Monday of the month (April 28, 2025) at 5:15 unless it falls on a holiday. Join us at the Cleveland County Library System, 104 Howie Dr., Shelby, NC at 5:15-6:45 PM for a fun evening of chess. There are players at all abilities and age groups. Everyone is welcome! If you want to learn or have played for years this meeting is for you. See you there!
