Post Road, Shelby, NC More Info.: Our program will spotlight local foods: The breakfast meal, graciously sponsored by Shelby Kiwanis Club, will be prepared on site from an assortment of local ingredients... farm-fresh eggs, grits, biscuits, honey, molasses, butter, country ham, pork sausage, bacon, livermush, sweet potatoes, and apple cider. The educational program will include a presentation on the local foods movement that is sweeping the nation and the economic, health, environmental and social benefits of eating locally. Carolina Farm Credit will present its Excellence in Agriculture Award to a notable local farmer during the breakfast. Cleveland County Farm Bureau will announce the winners of our student essay contest, who wrote on the theme, "Why We Should Eat Local Foods".
