Outdoor Truths: Aiming Outdoorsmen Toward Christ August 19th edition
Gary Miller ~ outdoortruths.org During the spring and summer deer are focused on plant life. It is the staple of their diet. By the time the acorns are falling, they are ready to add this other food group. And as every hunter knows, if you will find these nuts, you will find the deer. Last hunting season was a visual reminder of what our nation has went through as well. It seems the barren trees have mirrored our recent economy. Many people have had to find other places to find their sustenance. It has been tough on most everyone, but we will get through this as well. It will not be by the words of pundits or the writing of policy, but by the sheer desire of God. What I simply mean by that is it is God who sustains our world and who keeps it in perfect balance. If you have ever watched one of the scientific channels, you will notice how many of the shows approach their programming from a “what if” scenario. What if a super comet hits the earth as it once did? What if a giant meteorite crashes into the ocean? What if there is a massive star collision in space? What if what used to be nothing, was found to contain matter? That would really be something? We would then have the proof that not only does everything contain matter, but nothing does as well. And if nothing contains matter as everything does, we could then finally prove that the earth was created out of the same matter that nothing is composed of and we would no longer have to deal with God as the possible architect of it all. I can see it now on the Discovery Channel….. “British scientist discovers nothing’s matter!”…… or is it nothing matters. Hmmm? The truth is, God is not only the creator of our universe, but He is the sustainer of it as well. The critical balance is in His hands. He is the one who stays the comet and stops the meteorite from annihilating the earth. This doesn’t mean that we should shirk our stewardship responsibilities or that we should not make necessary preparation for certain situations, but only that we ultimately realize that whether it is an acorn, a cataclysmic event, or you and me; He’s got the whole world in His hands.
