In the season of great mirth
streaming over all the earth,
seems things are not as they should be
but it is no mystery.
When all things here are said and done
thoughts should be on just the one,
not on tinsel, toys and trees,
on bangles, baubles, and on beads.
Look closer, deeper in your mind
to a long forgotten time.
A father gave his first born son
to take the sins of everyone
and bear them on a cross so cruel,
he suffered much to show God rules.
In your shopping, baking, cards,
with your music and your cards
remember in your work and play
that Jesus died to give this day.
