Roy Donald Blanton, 76, 211 N. Morgan Street, Apt B1, Shelby, NC, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center – Charlotte.

He was born on June 11, 1937, in Cherokee County, SC to the late Roy Labor Blanton and Lillian Littlejohn Nance Blanton.  He attended Temple Baptist Church.  Roy was employed by C&S Furniture, Maxwell Brothers, Lutz Furniture, Sears and Alston Bridges BBQ.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Newman Blanton.

Survivors include two sons, Scotty Lee Blanton and wife, Tanya of Gaffney, SC and Donald Glenn Blanton and wife, Ellie of Patterson Springs; brothers, John Nance, Jr. of Gastonia and Tommy Doster of New House; two sisters, Elaine Causby of Shelby and Linda Kay Mullinax of Gaffney; five grandchildren, Tabitha Elaine Blanton, Robert Blanton, Allison Blanton, Rusty Blanton and Leigh Blanton; and special friend, Janet Lindeman.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday at Stamey Funeral Home.  At other times the family will be at their own homes.

Funeral Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel, Fallston

Officiating: Revs. Tommy Price, Mack Hyder and David Murray

Burial: Wallace Grove Baptist Church Cemetery
