Ruth Blanton Greene
Monday, May 6, 2013 4:41 pm Ruth Blanton Greene, age 90, resident of Kings Mountain, passed away May 2, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. She had been in declining health for the last 8 months. She was born in Cleveland County, the eldest born to the late L. Newton and Eunice R. Blanton. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Otis W. Greene, 4 brothers and 5 sisters. She was a former employee of Margrace Mill where she worked as a weaver from 1944 until 1970, and Doran Mills in Shelby from 1970 until 1985, where she retired in 1985. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, growing vegetables in her garden, and making quilts and selling them at the Patrick’s Senior Citizens Center in Kings Mountain as well as at Pioneer Days. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jeff Carley and Dr. Kaytay Bouttamy, to Betty Hughes, who took care of Mom during her last days and to Hospice Nurses, Christine, Laura and Pat, Donna, Debbie, Nita and Emily.
