 Sarah Strickland Smith age 91 died Saturday July 28, 2012 at Carrington Place in Matthews. Born in Hall County Georgia on May 15, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Allen Chandler “Al” Strickland and Sarah Deaton Strickland. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years James Smith and son, James “Jimmy” Smith Jr. Sarah was a very active member of Sharon United Methodist Church and she loved her church and church family.

Mrs. Smith is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Clemmer and husband David of Charlotte; grandchildren, Jennifer Wayne and husband Robby of Iron Station, Chad Smith of Shelby, Christopher Smith and wife Ashlee; and Kelsey Grant and husband Jon of Lawndale; four great grandchildren, Andrew Paul Wayne, Sara Kate Wayne, Charlie Jason Wayne, and Tyler Smith; Special loved friends, Sandy Kelly and Blake Morgan of Greenville SC; Several nieces and nephews and her precious dog Zoe.

Funeral services will be on Friday August 3, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Sharon United Methodist Church with Rev. April Abernethy officiating. The family will receive friends in the church hut an hour before the service from 1:00pm until 2:00pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery
