The Shelby Lions Club has given Shelby Mayor Ted Alexander 1600 pairs of recycled eyeglasses to take with him on his mission trip to Nicaragua. These glasses were recycled by the Roanoke Virginia Lion’s recycling center, where they were cleaned, repaired and labeled as to their magnification.
Shelby Lions are always collecting old glasses. Persons may call a Lion member or put them in one of the boxes at First National Bank South Lafayette Street, Monroe Tire Service, Morganton Eye Clinic, Wal-Mart Center, Maxwell Hamrick Insurance, or the Shelby Eye Clinic.
