Shirley Jean Gamble
Shirley Jean Gamble entered the gates of heaven Friday, November 2, 2018. She fought the good fight, she finished the race and she kept the faith (2 Tim. 4-7)
She was born to the late Howard and Beulah Peeler in Lawndale NC on November 5, 1935 and shared her childhood on a farm in Lawndale with her beloved sisters, Dorothy and Pat.
After graduating from Polkville School, she enjoyed working in the textile and automotive industry. Shirley later opened and operated her own daycare. Her hands stayed busy in her later years with sewing, needle crafting, puzzling, gardening, reading, listening to southern gospel music and loving her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, David; a son and daughter, Susan and Ray.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Judy Cook and husband Ken. Her grandsons Roman, Gabe and Troy and wife Kristin; and her granddaughter, Jennifer and husband, Chris. She also leaves a beautiful legacy of faith to her great grandchildren Tucker, Jack, Azelia, Maddox, Clay, Cody, Camryn and Brooklyn. Her sisters Pat Hastings and husband Bill as well as Dorothy Wehunt and husband, W.C. are also left to celebrate her home going. She will also be greatly missed by her little dog, Gracie, who was her constant companion.
She has been a member of Northside Baptist Church for over forty five years and plans are to receive friends beginning at 6P on Tuesday, November 6 which will flow into a beautiful music celebration of her life at 7P. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 7 at 11AM.
Shirley believed in supporting ministries that furthered the great commission which is to " Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matt. 28: 19-20). So in lieu of flowers, please give to your local church or a ministry that furthers God's kingdom in her name.
Condolences may be made online at www.stameytysingerfuneralhome.com.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Fallston.
