Tony Lamar Hastings, age 67 of East Main Street, died Tuesday January 15, 2013 at Hospice Wendover. Born in Cleveland County he was the son of John and Frances Hastings Phifer of Shelby. Mr. Hastings served in the Army, retired as an engineer from PPG after 42 years of service and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved working in the yard and enjoyed playing golf and basketball in his free time.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hastings is survived by his two daughters; Melanie Barrett and husband Wesley, and Kelly Auton and husband Troy all of Shelby; former wife and mother of his children, Rita Hastings of Shelby; two sisters, Debbie Morgan and husband Steve of Ga., and Vicki Knapp and husband Steve of Shelby; a brother, Michael Phifer of Shelby; and three grandchildren, Brandon Rogers, Morgan Rogers, and Taylor Auton.                                           
Funeral services will on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory with the Pastor Tony Sisk officiating. Burial will follow in at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 pm on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home at 907 East Main Street Shelby
