Verla Jean Parks Wilson



Verla Jean Parks Wilson, 86, of Avon St., died Sun., Oct. 5, 2014, at Courtland Terrace Nursing Center in Gastonia.  A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Gladys Tuney Parks.  She worked at Leon Sneider Department Store for 20 years, and was a member of Bradley Memorial United Methodist Church and Gaston Co. Extension Home Makers for 33 years. 

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lowery Benson Wilson; brother, James Edward Parks Sr. 

SURVIVED:  She is survived by her sons, Larry Benson Wilson of Gastonia, Jeffrey Scott Wilson Sr. and wife Julie, Hayward Lamont Wilson and wife Cynthia Ann, all of Bessemer City; sister, Betty Falls and husband James of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Amanda Marie Patel and husband Mike of Buford, SC, Madison Brooke Wilson, and Jeffrey Scott Wilson Jr., all of Bessemer City; great-grandchildren, Tobias and Tula Patel of Buford, SC; and extended family she loved as her own, Dr. Claude Luvis and wife Sherrine, Dr. Sherryl Luvis and fiancĂ© Clinton Eshelman, Dr. Charmaine Luvis Kennedy and husband Kurt, and their twin daughters, Karina and Kiera Kennedy, and Dilan Luvis.

GRAVESIDE SERVICES:  Wednesday, 2p.m., at Mountain Rest Cemetery

VISITATION:  The family will receive friends Tuesday, 6-7:30p.m., at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain, and other times at the home of her son, Scott Wilson, 403 Windwood Dr., Bessemer City.
