William Claude Burgess, 89 of Shelby, NC passed away on July 11, 2011. Mr. Burgess, 89, was born on August 2, 1921 in Cleveland County to the late Claude W. Burgess & Lela Wallace Burgess.  He retired from Fiber Industries after 25 years of service where he worked as a supervisor in  Security.   He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Earl, a member

of the Ruritan Club and a charter member of the Number Three Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Burgess of the home; two sons, Bobby Burgess of Gastonia and Jerry Hudson of Atlanta, GA and 3 grandchildren, Laura Ball, Kristi Applegate and Joey Burgess.  He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at New Hope Baptist Church, Thursday,
