William Don Wortman, 75 of Casar Road, Casar, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Atrium Health - Cleveland, Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County, NC on January 6, 1948, he was the son of the late Lester Theodore Wortman and Mittie Newton Wortman. Don was a lifelong farmer and also worked for Brackett Oil Company. He was a member of Casar United Methodist Church. In Don's younger years, he was an Eagle Scout and loved playing baseball for the American Legion. He served in the US Navy on the USS Bon Homme Richard during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mavis Peacock, Connie Nedlock and husband Wesley and Carol Garner and husband Harold.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Linda Pruett Wortman; a son, Chris Wortman and wife, Regina of Casar; a daughter, Wendy Davidson and husband, Dean of Casar; two grandchildren, Garrett Davidson and Mackenzie Wortman and a special brother-in-law, Ron Peacock.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 10:00 am to 10:30 am at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of the daughter, Wendy, 5359 Seven Pines Road, Casar, NC 28020.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at Casar United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. John Ware officiating.
