William Richard Coles, age 66 died Tuesday March 18, 2014 at Hospice Cleveland County. Born in Pitt county on April 16, 1947 he was the son of Ivor Coles of Grifton and the late William Morgan Coles. Richard enjoyed playing golf, shagging and playing sports with friends. Richard was an avid ECU fan. In addition to his father, Richard is preceded in death by a sister, Vera Connor.

Richard is survived by a son, Jonathan Coles and wife Larissa;  a daughter, Adrienne Ledbetter and husband Ted all of Boiling Springs; two brothers, Jimmy Coles and wife Renee, and Mike Coles; four sisters, Roxie Houze, France Odham, Sarah-Ann Barber, and Hazel Wood and husband Barry; three granddaughters, Taylor and Samantha Coles, and Laila Ledbetter; Numerous nieces and nephews; special friend Dianne Kelly and husband Bernie; and special caretaker, Tim Odham

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March  22, 2014 at 11:00am at Lafayette Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Arthur Holland officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 10:00am until 11:00am.
