| Buren Hershel Bridges, 87, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Posey Buren and Addie Champion Bridges. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Biddix Bridges and two brothers, H.D. Bridges and Harrill Bridges. He was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He loved woodworking and dogs.
Mr. Bridges is survived by his son Kenneth Bridges and wife Karen of Shelby; grandsons, Todd A. Bridges of England and Preston D. Bridges and wife Heather of Aberdeen, NC.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, May 14, 2012 at Cleveland Memorial Park with full military rites. The Rev. Bill Frayar will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00pm on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. At other times the family will be at the home of Kenneth and Karen Bridges, 2440 Washburn Road, Shelby, NC 28150.
